Too many parts of the U.S.A. are trying to recover from "natural" disasters. The middle of summer is a time when it is supposed to be dry. Instead, the rain continues to leave its heavenly reservoirs and plummet to earth causing rivers, streams, and Ozark "cricks" to overflow their normal boundaries. Ocean currents are disturbed by hurricane force winds that wreak havoc on the coastline before heading inland to cause damage. In spite of rain and hurricanes, wildfires are ignited by "nature" and sweep rapidly across hundreds and even thousands of acres leaving behind burned trees, grasslands, and habitat (and inhabitants).Â
Â
Enough about the weather. It is definitely bad. It is definitely a challenge before and after the display of its power.
Â
Now we gaze at the drama of history being played on the world stage. Most of us see it from a distance. Too many people see it close up. The Ozarks is not now nor ever will be Ukraine, but is it possible that someday our beautiful region of forests and clear streams could become a target for man's weapons of war? How about where you live?Â
Â
Here's my "take" on the weather and war. The weather is messed up because man has done too much "dabbling" with the environment. They should have known "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Man, with all his education, is pretty stupid! God is God. Man is not God! So there! I said it! You can read it for what it's worth, or you can read it for what it's not worth. I wrote it and I'll stand by my opinion that my Father knows best --- not some TV character and not some so-called scientist.
Â
As for war, instruments of destruction, and death raining from the skies, I oppose the use of force except for self-defense. If everyone would be content to stay on the defensive, no one would have time to get on the offensive. Makes sense to me. Think about it.Â
Â
Where I grew up, we fought our way to school and fought our way back home. We would fight "at the drop of a hat" (an old saying), and fists were the weapons of choice. Mine were challenged and, at times, used effectively. Those days are over. They are over not because of my age; they left my life when Jesus took over.Â
Â
Wouldn't it be great to see Jesus stretch out his hand and say to the wind and rain "Stop! Be at peace!" Well, if we hang around this life long enough, we will see him do exactly that.
Â
Wouldn't it be great to see Jesus supervise the collection of weapons and the process of turning them into plows for farming. We will see him do it --- if we are still here when he returns.
Â
Jesus will return to this earth to be its ruler for at least a thousand years before he defeats Satan once and for all. Therefore, I would be remiss if I failed to invite you to make certain you are in the right relationship with Jesus. He is the Christ, the Living Son of the Living God. He is the only way to be safe throughout eternity and forever.
Â
Oh, yes, if you are in this area --- or visiting this area --- Church Of The Harvest is near downtown Branson, Missouri. The address is 501 West College. I am blessed to be the pastor.
