UPSTAIRS OVER A VACANT LOT …

IF YOU NEED AN EXPERT, don't call me. The longer I live the more I know I don't know. It is a little ironic that some of us have been on Earth for many years and are continuing in the journey of discovery. The globe is so huge that although it has been our dwelling place for decades, most of us have traversed only a very small part of the planet. Two of my brothers were in the Seabees in World War II. After the war, the younger of the two transferred into the U.S. Navy and signed on to the USS Hershey for a training cruise to circle the globe. Several times I heard him say, "I wouldn't take a million dollars for what I've seen, and I wouldn't give a nickel to see it again." Now that, my friends, is a testimony worth repeating!  Watching a travelogue on television is as close to world travel as Nancy and I want to experience. The world has gone crazy! It is, indeed, as the title of an old movie stated, "A mad, mad, mad, mad, mad, mad world!"

This big, old, nutty world is less than a pin prick in the universe of universes. Aren't you glad this is not your permanent home? I am! Thank God he is God! Thank God there is none other like him. Nothing nor anything nor anyone has ever come close to the size, wisdom, knowledge, power or love of the creator of the universe of universes. And just think, he loves you and he loves me. That, my friends, is a miracle! We understand being loveable to family and friends, but the love of God for us surpasses our ability to comprehend how the God who made everything would be cognizant of us and our need to be loved.

"CUTTING TO THE CHASE" it is very important to have a place of refuge, an understanding of the times, and a quiet confidence that this old, crazy, mad, sinful world will never defeat the people of God. We win because we serve THE WINNER! The winner is Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. He is the Christ, the Messiah. He's alive! He proved that there is life after death. And, yes, he died on the cross on Mt. Calvary atop the place of the skull. His death was the most agonizing ever designed by man. He did it for us because "God so loved the world that he gave ... ."(Check out John 3:16).
