From My Perspective

THE PEOPLE
I am always aware of the potential power of the pulpit. It is never to be taken lightly. Most people "come to church" without an awareness of "being the church." Millions of people around the world assemble at a given time in a given place to "worship" without an awareness of being the church.
THE CHURCH
When Jesus spoke about building his church based on the profession of faith by Simon Peter, the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek rendition is "gathering" or "assembly." Church is what and who we are, not where we are. Church is a people, not a place.
THE PASTOR
The person in the pulpit is under a divine obligation to speak the truth as revealed by God. The Holy Scriptures must always be the foundation for the pastor's words otherwise he delivers a speech and not a sermon.
When the people gather to worship, music is praise to prepare people to participate in the gathering. Music is not entertainment. Musicians and singers are not performers.
THE PULPIT
As for the pulpit, it should be reserved exclusively for the proclamation of a message from the Word of God made relevant to the people by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is not a political podium nor is it a platform for social issues.
Stay blessed,
Paul
